The toolkit

A little less grind.
A little more possibility.

01

Duplicate resources

Copy an existing loose outdoor resource of a type you already have. Useful for stockpiles you already own.

02

Spawn new resources

Create any resource type from the game near your base, even if none exists in the save yet. Uses an existing example when available, otherwise places a generic one.

03

Spawns, trade, and repair

Copy colonists and bots, refill colonist stats, restore bots, repair built structures, fill oxygen and power reserves, set trade coins, and set extra prestige. Changes are staged until you choose Save.

Start here

From download to playthrough.

  1. Keep a separate backup

Close Planetbase and copy your original .sav file somewhere safe. The editor’s automatic backup is only the first copy, not a backup history.

  2. Download and extract

Extract every file from the ZIP into a folder. Run run.bat on Windows. If Python is missing, the launcher attempts to install it using winget; this needs an internet connection and uses third-party services.

  3. Choose your save

The editor looks in Documents/Planetbase/Saves and OneDrive variants. Browse to another folder if your saves are elsewhere, then select a .sav file. Planetbase saves are plain XML .sav files, not compressed archives.

  4. Make a small change and save

Duplicate an existing resource, spawn a new one, copy a colonist or bot, restore the workforce, repair structures, fill base oxygen and power, set trade coins, or set prestige. Select SAVE (backup + write .sav), then open the save in Planetbase and check the result.

Good to know

Before you edit.

Is this a Planetbase trainer or a save editor?

It is a local save editor, not a trainer that attaches to the running game. It edits the plain XML inside a .sav file. Close the game before writing changes.

What cheats can I use?

The tool can duplicate existing loose resources, spawn new resource types, copy colonists and bots, refill colonist stats, restore bots, repair built structures, fill base oxygen and power reserves, set trade coins on ships, and set extra prestige. It does not unlock technologies or edit terrain.

Are my save files uploaded?

No. This editor reads and writes files locally and has no built-in telemetry. Opening its website or legal links uses your browser. Installing Python through the launcher uses third-party network services.

How do I restore my original save?

Close the game and the editor. Keep a copy of the modified save, then replace it with your separate backup. You can also copy the .sav.bak file and remove the .bak suffix; that file contains the state before the editor’s first write, not necessarily your latest progress.

Does this work with every game version?

The editor supports Planetbase save format version 12. Compatibility with every release, update, or mod is not guaranteed. Try a copied save first. If the game rejects the result, restore your backup rather than continuing with that save.

Is Michitai affiliated with Planetbase?

No. This is an independent, unofficial utility. Planetbase and its associated names belong to their respective owners.
